I think my child may need teacher or therapy services - how do I start this process?
Birth to 3 Years / Early Intervention
Early Intervention (EI) is a publicly funded (by NYS/county governments) program that is available for children ages birth to three suspected of having a developmental delay and/or a disability.
The process can begin with a conversation between you and your child’s physician and/or by contacting the county number below where you and your child reside.
Eligibility for the Early Intervention Program (EIP) can only be determined by state approved agencies and/or evaluators.
If your child is eligible for EIP, all services are identified in collaboration with the parent and the authorized state/municipality. The municipality will then arrange for service providers taking into consideration your families/child’s specific and individual needs.
If your child is eligible for the EIP there will be no out-of-pocket expenses for you however your health insurance may be accessed for reimbursement of services. If for some reason a service delivery site requires a fee to enter/treat that expense will be the responsibility of the parent/caregiver and not that of the provider, municipality, or state.
